Child Count and SpEdDoc 7.2

SpEdDoc 7.2 will be released later this month. Here is an update from Richard Smith.

The DOE has just released a copy of the DOE's Child Count Application which can now be tested with SpEdDoc. Following testing and any necessary adjustments to ensure compatibility, SpEdDoc 7.2 will be released.

That means that SpEdDoc 7.2 should be posted before the end of the month. Meanwhile, schools can conduct data checking using earlier SpEdDoc 7 versions. Note that the Child Count fields have already been incorporated into SpEdDoc, with the exception of one new selection under DD Domain announced by the DOE last week (Other Qualifying Reasons).

Along with the release of SpEdDoc 7.2, the SpEdDoc 7 Child Count Guide will be finalized (it's available now in draft form at www.speddoc.org).

At this week's statewide Child Count training events, a request was made for a list of SpEdDoc 7 changes. While there are innumerable changes introduced in SpEdDoc 7, here are a few highlights:
• Tabbed Portals to view and select documents.
• Increase from two Contacts per student to unlimited Contacts.
• Option to Preview an entire IEP or Evaluation Report.
• Preferences Panel to customize features such as whether Due Dates display automatically in List View.
• Option to create a PDF of an entire IEP or Evaluation Report (requires FM 9).
• Page numbering (by section) for IEP or Evaluation Report.
• Compact Accommodations printing and a new report to summarize accommodation needs across the school or SU.
• New Goal Bank fields, including Grade Equivalent field.
• VCSEA and PAAGE goal bank sets can be readily imported using the Goal Bank Import feature.
• Revised Medicaid LOC form to accommodate monthly services.
• Option to create Rubrics in an IEP or in a shared Rubric Bank.
• Tracking of Section 504 Plan and Evaluation dates in Student, same as done for special education dates.
• Separate Section 504 records for Plans, Evaluation documents and Meeting Notices, same as done for special education.
• Ability to pull accommodations from the Accommodations Bank into a Section 504 plan.

Web2School 1.76.1 Released

Web2School 1.76.1 has been released. I am upgrading the servers in all of the schools except Mettawee today, Oct. 4th. After the server has been upgraded, you will be prompted to upgrade your client the next time you login. The client upgrade is handled automatically.

Here is a list of the new features:

New Features in v 1.76.1:

· Health:

® Health Desk – In the Administration Menu, the new Health Desk feature allows nurses access to all health administration features from within one window. The student search allows filtering to refine the list of students that will be displayed. Once a student is selected, the nurse has access to their student information, health information, immunizations, screenings, health office visits, daily care/meds, physicians, medical alerts and health notes. From this desk, the nurse also has access to logs for all daily care and nurse office visits. Health reports and setup information is available directly from the health desk as well.

® Health Information – The Allergies, Medications and Chronic conditions have now been added to this section for ease of viewing and data entry. More of the Notes is now visible for each of the above mentioned sections.

® Reports – Our health reports have been enhanced to allow nurses to make multiple selections for allergies, chronic conditions, and much more. For example, users can now choose more than one allergy to get a report of students with all of their associated allergies.

® Immunizations:

o Immunizations are case sensitive allowing for entries such as Td and TD.

o Instance views are available for those immunizations requiring multiple shots or boosters.

o Custom fields are available for tracking user-defined information per immunization instance.

® Screening – Users can now access each of the screenings tab directly to enter data.

® Health Office Visits – There is now no limit to the number of characters you may enter in the Notes section to describe a health visit. You cannot, however, attach external documents due to the risk of computer viruses.

® Health Setup – Screens have been enhanced for easier data entry. User will not be able to enter duplicate entries. Also, users can set up maximum instances for each immunization so that the appropriate boxes appear in the Immunization Instance view for easy data entry.

® Student Health Tab – The student health information has been rearranged for ease of use and viewing.

® BMI and BP Percentile– Fields are available for tracking Body Mass Index and Blood Pressure percentiles.

· Elementary Grades:

® Copy Skill Types and Skills – From Administration – Elementary Grades, you may copy skill types and skill from one teacher to another that has the same course. With this window, a user can now copy skills and skill types from one Teacher to another Teacher in the same grade level without going to each course individually.

· Attendance:

® Class Attendance - Study Halls – When users select a Study Hall course to do class attendance, there will be another dialog to determine the Term and Day so the appropriate Students appear on the roster for attendance for that day.

® Detailed Daily Attendance – Tool tips have now been added to the Attendance Categories (Att) column so that when a user moves the cursor over the abbreviation, the corresponding Category Name appears.

· Spell Checker: We have now implemented a spell checker (not a grammar checker) on most of our Notes fields. Keep in mind the very first time you invoke it, it will take a few minutes to download the dictionary file from the server on to the client machine.

· Student Information: The Student Information has been expanded width wise to display more information in the tabs. The Student pictures now appear by default on the window. The windows can also be maximized to show more information on the tabs.

® Window – We have expanded the Student Information window to be able to display more information. It may now be opened to full screen.

® Student Photos – Student photographs will now display by default.
