SpEdDoc 7.1a Released

SpEdDoc 7.1a has been released. I will take down BRSU SpEdDoc Wednesday evening, 9/24/08 at 6:00 p.m. to upgrade the system. See the new features below.

SpEdDoc 7.1a features the following:
• Student Find offers option to include or exclude archived records from search results.
• VDC Export button on Student Main Menu allows export of child count data at any time of the year (e.g., to interface with Student Information Systems).
• Fixed an issue causing the top section of the Accommodations page to print twice in some situations.

SpEdDoc 7.1 Released

SpEdDoc 7.1 has been released. I will upgrade the BRSU system in the evening on 9/9/08.

New Features:
  • Combine Records feature to consolidate duplicate student records into one record (download the updated SpEdDoc 7 Administration guide for instructions).
  • Improved upgrade process that works even if some records are missing critical data such as the CM School or Org ID (some SU's experienced hanging when upgrading earlier SpEdDoc 7 versions due to this issue).
  • Recently released DOE child count edit specifications for DD Domain.
  • Several sample Rubrics in the Rubrics Bank.
  • Preferences Panel to allow organizations to customize several SpEdDoc features.
  • Fixed issue that would cause error messages when entering dates after October 1, 2008 (so it is important to complete this upgrade prior to that date).
A future update will incorporate the DOE's child count specifications to match the DOE's upcoming child count application release.

Printing in SpEdDoc

Printing in SpEdDoc can be problematic now that we are using a terminal server to host the system. This means when you are working on SpEdDoc you are actually just seeing a picture of what is happening on the server in the BRSU office, so when you go to print the system should connect back to the local printers that are installed on your laptop or workstation.

I say "should connect" because this does not always happen without some configuration changes. The most important thing is to ensure you have local printing enabled in your remote desktop client. To do this, start up Remote Desktop and before you log in go to the options - local resources tab and make sure the local printers box is checked. Also, the server will not connect back to networked printers so you need to have a local printer that is either connected by a USB or parallel port.

SpEdDoc 7.02a is Here!

BRSU SpEdDoc was upgraded to version 7.02a this evening. It does not appear to be a major feature upgrade but future upgrades are in the works (see below). In the future, I will announce upgrades well in advance because they require me to first shut the system down.

SpEdDoc Contacts:

SpEdDoc 7.02a was posted today. This update incorporates fields on Medicaid logs required for electronic billing. The update is only necessary if your organization uses the SpEdDoc electronic billing process.

Future updates will incorporate the DOE's soon to be released child count specifications as well as a new feature for combining duplicate records.

SpEdDoc 7.02a Coming Soon!

A new revision to SpEdDoc will be released soon. See below. BRSU SpEdDoc will be updated Labor Day Weekend.
SpEdDoc Contacts:

The Medicaid division has requested restoration of some fields that they requested to be removed over the summer, so an upgrade will be issued later this weekend.
